About Me

Hello, i'm Victoria!

This blog is here to chronicle my first steps into proper historical costuming, and hopefully beyond.

My interest in history started when I was quite young, growing up in England I was surrounded by magnificent castles and ancient legends. My first love was the Elizabethan era, I still have fond memories of using a pillow as a farthingale and a bedsheet as a dress.

I'm now a twenty year old Game Design student living in New Zealand, and my interests are focused mainly on the late 18th century and vintage fashions. Although research into historical fashion is something I enjoy, I will personally always be more interested in aesthetics over total accuracy. So long as I can make it work and make it look good, i'm not going to lose sleep over using polyester thread!

Most of the photos on here, particularly the photos of finished pieces, are all taken by my wonderful boyfriend. You can find his work over here, there's lots of New Zealand fauna, flora and cars.

Feel free to leave me a comment, i'll always try to reply!

  1. Hello, Victoria -

I just want to let you know I’ve nominated you for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award.

The nomination is based on my appreciation for your ability to create beautiful reproduction garments and write well about the experience. It’s hard enough to do one or the other, let alone both. You’ve created a lovely blog and this is my way of saying thank you.

You are under no obligation to accept and I won’t feel hurt if you don’t. Just know I love and appreciate your work.

You inspire me to keep learning and trying. One can hardly ask for more. I adore those 1770's shoes and must try it myself - I like them even more that what American Duchess has available. Great tutorial!

    Happy creating!

Here are the links to the award guidelines (part one) and the list of nominees with my questions for them (part two).

    1. Thank you so much!

It's really wonderful to know that people like to read about what I make and appreciate what I do, i'm really honored to have been nominated! I started this blog to give a little back to the community that inspired me, and to hear that i'm now inspiring and helping other people is so excellent to hear.

Thank you so much for your wonderful compliments, I'll do my award post soon!
